Programs and Events

Here at the Lee County Library we are thrilled to offer a full calendar of programs and events throughout the year, with something for everyone! These include a number of signature events that our staff and partners collaborate to bring you on an annual basis—such as the Helen Foster Lecture and Tupelo Reads.

Below please find a listing of our primary recurring programs and events, and stay tuned for a busy schedule of additional activities as well!

All Booked Book Club

Join us! Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate in our monthly book club, All Booked, which meets at the Lee County Library on the second Monday of every month at 6pm. Our selection for April is The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Check out a copy at the library and join us for engaging conversation about the book!

Helen Foster Lecture

Established in memory of Mrs. Helen Foster, who served as library director from 1943-1947, the Helen Foster Lecture is an annual event that brings a notable speaker to our local audiences in Tupelo and throughout Northeast Mississippi. Speakers from over the years include Pat Conroy, John Grisham, Natasha Tretheway, and Jon Meacham. The next lecture will be presented in May 2024 by Katherine Sharp Landdeck, author of The Women with Silver Wings.

Lego Club

Lego Club is a fan favorite, to be sure! Join us every week on Monday afternoons from 3:30—5pm and construct a design based around a given theme—new every week—or build your own masterpiece! For ages 5+.

Lunching with Books

Lunching with Books is a signature monthly series sponsored by the Friends of the Lee County Library. Each event features the review and discussion of a different book—often presented by the author—as well as a light lunch available for purchase at $10.00. All proceeds support the Friends of the Lee County Library and library activities. Lunching with Books takes place on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 12pm.

Mystery Madness!

Mystery Madness! is a new program we are thrilled to offer, designed for adult audiences. Participants work together to solve a case and compete in trivia for fun prizes! The next Mystery Madness! program will be held in May 2024.

Storytime

Our weekly storytime events are a signature offering of our Youth Services department, taking place each Tuesday at 10am in the Lee County Library. Bring your family and join us for a fun time enjoying books, crafts, songs, and time well-spent in the library!

Summer Reading

Summer Reading is HUGE here at the Lee-Itawamba Library System! This FREE program takes place from June 3—July 31 for children and teens ages 0—18. Our goal is to encourage a love of reading and discovery for everyone! We will have educational programs for all age groups, including in-person performers like our Live Animal shows! This year’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”

Teen Tuesday

Every month our Youth Services department sets aside the fourth Tuesday of the month for teen-specific programming. Scheduled from 6-7pm, Teen Tuesday features a different activity each month, designed with teens in mind. Our next program will take place on March 26, featuring blackout poetry! Snacks will be provided.

Tupelo Reads

Bringing together the City of Tupelo, the Lee County Library, Reed’s Gum Tree Bookstore, and Tupelo High School—Tupelo Reads is an annual event designed to celebrate and encourage reading community-wide. Each event brings a nationally-recognized best-selling author to Tupelo, and includes an appearance at Tupelo High School. Activities for elementary school students and Boys and Girls Clubs members are often provided as well. The 2024 event featured Shelby van Pelt, best-selling author of the novel Remarkably Bright Creatures.
